About

The Fuji Course at Kawana Hotel is one of Japan’s most iconic golf courses, perched on a dramatic lava plateau overlooking Sagami Bay on the scenic Izu Peninsula, around 120 km south of Tokyo. Designed by renowned English architect Charles Hugh Alison and opened in 1936, the course is celebrated for its breathtaking ocean panoramas, rugged coastal setting and strategic design. Often referred to as Japan’s answer to Pebble Beach, it consistently ranks among the finest courses in Asia and the world.

Playing to a par 72 and measuring 6,701 yards from the championship tees, the Fuji Course features immaculate Zoysia fairways and greens, with many holes framed by spectacular sea views and towering Mount Fuji visible on clear days. The course has earned international recognition, including a place in Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Courses in the World, ranking 53rd in the 2023–24 list. The Fuji Course has also played an important role in championship golf, hosting the 1962 Eisenhower Trophy (World Amateur Team Championship) and serving as the long-time home of the Fujisankei Ladies Classic on the LPGA of Japan Tour, held annually each April.
