Buenos Aires Golf Club is located in Bella Vista, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, roughly 40 kilometres north-west of the capital. The 27-hole complex was designed by American architect Robert von Hagge, with the Green and Blue nines opening in 1994 and the Yellow nine following in 1995. It is a private, American-style parkland course, a design approach still relatively uncommon in Argentina, built across rolling terrain shaped by strategic bunkering and extensive water features. The three nines, Green, Blue and Yellow, are combined into three separate 18-hole configurations, each playing to a par of 72, with the Green/Yellow combination generally regarded as the club’s principal championship layout.
The club has hosted some of golf’s most significant international team events, including the 2000 World Cup of Golf, won by the United States pairing of Tiger Woods and David Duval, and the 2010 Eisenhower Trophy World Amateur Team Championship, won by France. It is one of only three clubs worldwide to have staged both events. Buenos Aires Golf Club has also hosted the Argentine Open of the Republic and the Andes Cup, and has featured among Golf Digest’s rankings of the top 100 courses outside the United States, widely regarded as one of the finest courses in Argentina and South America. As a private club, access is generally arranged through member invitation or reciprocal arrangements with affiliated clubs and tour operators like Voyages.golf.
Robert von Hagge’s routing at Buenos Aires Golf Club unfolds across gently rolling parkland, a departure from the flatter pampas terrain found at many of the region’s older courses. Water comes into play on a significant number of holes across all three nines, worked into the design as both a strategic and visual feature rather than incidental hazard, and golfers should expect to lose balls to lakes and ponds if approach shots stray offline. Bunkering is bold and shaped in von Hagge’s characteristic style, often positioned to challenge the preferred line into greens rather than simply flank fairways.
The Green nine plays to 3,533 yards, the Blue to 3,461 yards and the Yellow to 3,438 yards, each to a par of 36, giving members and visitors three distinct 18-hole combinations to choose from. The Green/Yellow pairing is the most frequently played and is generally considered the sterner test, while the Blue/Yellow combination is regarded by regular players as the most demanding of the three. Greens throughout the complex are large, contoured and quick, requiring careful attention to pin position and putting from the correct section of the green to avoid difficult two-putts.
Buenos Aires Golf Club’s clubhouse is a notable feature of the property, offering fine dining and lounge areas for members and visitors to relax before or after a round. A fully stocked pro shop is available on site, along with locker rooms and changing facilities.
Practice facilities are extensive, including a driving range, putting greens and dedicated short game practice areas, allowing golfers to prepare properly across all three nines before heading out. Given the club’s tournament history, these facilities are built to a standard capable of supporting professional and elite amateur competition. As a private club with a championship pedigree, Buenos Aires Golf Club is well set up for a full day of golf, with the practice areas, dining and clubhouse facilities together providing a complete experience for members and their guests around any of the three nine-hole combinations. Visiting golfers should also consider playing Olivos and Pilara golf clubs.
