Designed by South African golfing icon Gary Player, the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is Abu Dhabi’s premier golf facility. The golf course is the Arabian Gulf’s first beachfront course, having opened in March 2010. The Golf Club is located at Saadiyat Island, just twenty minutes northeast of Abu Dhabi’s centre. Abu Dhabi is the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, and one of the most beautiful cities in the Middle East. With the nearby Yas Links golf course and Saadiyat Beach Club to play, your golfing escapade to Abu Dhabi will be one to remember. The Clubhouse at Saadiyat Beach is known as one of the best dining venues in the Middle East, and features a world-class Pro Shop, attentive staff and a terrace to enjoy your meal while watching the world go by. The wide-open nature of Saadiyat Beach draws comparisons to Florida’s Streamsong Resort or New Zealand’s Tara Iti Golf Course. Measuring a massive 7,800 yards (7.1km), the Saadiyat Beach Golf Course is a monster. The Course meanders around 5-star hotels that pepper the waterfront. With five tee positions, the golf course becomes much more accessible but remains a challenge all the while. Adding to the aesthetic are the immaculate playing surfaces juxtaposed with white sand bunkers and the azure waters of the Persian Gulf. As with many golf courses in Dubai, the course is flanked by residential or commercial developments, but there is plenty of space to miss your drives.
There are three saltwater lakes on the Saadiyat Beach Golf Course, with restored beach and sand dunes providing hazards throughout the 18-hole route. There are 60 bunkers on the par-72 golf course, though the course is spread over 300 acres so there is a very open atmosphere to the place. Set amongst rolling sand dunes by the sea, Saadiyat Beach is a very fun golf course to play year-round.
Clubhouse
The Clubhouse is the centrepiece of Saadiyat Beach Golf Club. Known internationally for its fine cuisine, Hawksbill restaurant is your go-to venue for a pre or post-round meal and drink for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The menu consists of classic breakfast items, sharing platters, seafood, salads, pizza, pasta, sandwiches and various mains. There is very comfortable indoor seating as well as a sweeping terrace that overlooks the grounds. Elsewhere in the Clubhouse you will find a well-stocked pro shop with helpful attendees and friendly service throughout. The golf shop stocks brands like Peter Millar, FootJoy and J Lindberg, featuring everything from golf bags and clubs to hats and apparel. There are also lockers in the Clubhouse for your convenience.
Practice Facilities
The practise facilities at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club are world-class, featuring a full-length driving range, putting greens and short-game areas. Golf balls are included at the range. Saadiyat Beach Golf Club has an academy managed by Troon, offering full use of the practice facilities or tuition by one of the resident PGA professionals.
