Lima Golf Club occupies a compact, historic site in San Isidro, with the course routed through mature trees and bordered by the high-rise development that now surrounds much of the property. The parkland character of the layout, established when the club was founded in 1924, has been retained through the 2018 redesign, even as the surrounding cityscape has changed considerably over the past century.
The routing favours accuracy over length, with tight, tree-lined fairways placing a premium on positioning from the tee. Strategic bunkering, rebuilt during the Mackenzie and Ebert renovation to a style consistent with the redesigned holes, comes into play throughout the round, while lakes weave through several holes and add both visual interest and genuine risk. Playing to a par of 70 over 6,804 yards, the course rewards course management and precise iron play more than raw distance.
Lima Golf Club offers a clubhouse with dining facilities for members and visitors. Practice facilities were significantly upgraded during the 2018 Mackenzie and Ebert redesign, and now include a 330-yard double-ended driving range, a notable addition given the constraints of the club’s urban site, with high netting installed on either side to contain golf balls within the property.
Within the driving range, three double greens inspired by the Old Course at St Andrews have been built, covered in artificial turf so the range can also function as a six-hole short par-three course when required. A dedicated short game area was constructed as part of the same project, alongside a new putting green next to the clubhouse, known as the “Limalayas” green and inspired by the famous Himalayas putting green at St Andrews.
