Located just 15 minutes from Dubai’s city centre, the Emirates Golf Club features 36-holes of golf: The Majilis Course and The Faldo Course. The Golf Club is located just minutes from all the best hotels in Dubai and is easily accessible by car. Designed by Florida-based architect Karl Litten, the Majilis Course at Emirates Golf Club is a challenging par-72 layout with an epic view of the Dubai skyline directly behind the golf course. The Majilis Course is in the World Top 100 Courses by Golf Digest, and one of the best golf courses in the Middle East. There is a handicap of 28 for men and 36 for ladies to be able to play The Majilis Course at Emirates Golf Club. To complete the experience, there is a Peter Cowen Golf Academy on site and it is the only golf club in Dubai with night-golf capabilities. While visiting Emirates Golf Club, it is essential to stop at the nearby Montgomerie Golf Club to play the esteemed 18-hole track. The signature clubhouse was designed by BSBG, complete with various restaurants, a pro shop and clubhouse amenities.
The Majilis Golf Course, designed by Florida native Karl Litten, is one of the most iconic courses in Dubai. It was the first all-grass championship when it opened in 1988, and it is currently host to the DP World Tour sanctioned Omega Dubai Desert Classic and Omega Dubai Ladies Masters. The Majilis is known as the flagship course at Emirates Golf Club, it is the tournament-hosting powerhouse that features wastelands between tees and fairways, sharp doglegs bordered by man-made lakes and tough greens to read. The testing layout is by no means inaccessible to ordinary golfers; there are various tee-boxes to choose from.
The course is named after the Majilis building which is positioned between the 8th and 9th holes and has been a Dubai landmark since 1988. Majilis takes its name from the Arabic word for ‘meeting place.’ The golf course features hundreds of indigenous species of flora which are beautifully complemented by meandering fairways and seven fresh and saltwater lakes. The Majilis Course is surrounded by the newer Faldo Course, and plays directly from the Clubhouse in an out-back-out layout, with the first and tenth tees on opposite sides of the Clubhouse; the 18th green lies directly in front with a spectacular finish over a man-made lake.
Clubhouse
The Emirates Golf Clubhouse was developed by BSBG to resemble the culturally-significant Bedouin tents. The Clubhouse is iconic in the golfing world and decadent by all standards. Inside, you can dine at one of four eateries. The Carine Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and features French Mediterranean cuisine. The Roseleaf Café is open for breakfast and lunch. The Spike Bar is open for lunch and dinner and features international cuisine. Jones the Grocer features Australian cuisine, and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Elsewhere in the Emirates Clubhouse, you will find a well-stocked pro shop stocking brands such as Peter Millar, Ralph Lauren and FootJoy.
Practice Facilities
Golfers can brush up on your skills at the Peter Cowen Academy at Emirates Golf Club. Facilities include two floodlit driving ranges, putting greens, two specific short game areas, a par-3 course (Academy only), and practice bunkers. Golfers who utilise the academy can utilise a trackman range, SAM Puttlab, V1 teaching software and onsite PGA professionals. There are packages available for tuition, otherwise you can utilise the range for a fee.
