Eagle Ridge Golf Course is situated in the heart of тАШCupsтАЩ territory on the Mornington Peninsula, about 80-minutesтАЩ drive from Melbourne. Owner and designer Kevin Hartley designed the course with the vision of Eagle Ridge becoming the тАЬRoyal MelbourneтАЭ of the Mornington PeninsulaтАЭ. The course is ranked as one of the top 25 public access courses in Australia and welcomes golfers year-round. Those who spend any time at the course and clubhouse will catch a feeling of the resort-style atmosphere and layout of Eagle Ridge that resembles the resorts found around Miami. The Eagle Ridge golf course is in the vicinity of other great Mornington Peninsula golf attractions including Moonah Links, St Andrews Beach, The National Golf Club and The Dunes Golf Links. We recommend visiting Eagle Ridge as part of a week-long Mornington Peninsula golf break.
The Eagle Ridge golf course is extensively landscaped with numerous waterfalls, a large lake with a fountain, beach bunkers and manicured garden beds. Playing the course will evoke a resort-style atmosphere although the type of course that Eagle Ridge is, becomes questionable when you look closer. It has a links-like feel, and sand comprises of the layers below the fairways and greens so that the course drains well, but the amount of water on the course, combined with the amount and placement of trees, makes the course feel parkland. The hybridity of the course makes it stand out from many of VictoriaтАЩs famous Sandbelt courses, or even the modern links courses that comprise many Mornington Peninsula golf courses.
The fairways are generally narrow and the obstacles on the course, whether itтАЩs bunkers, trees or lakes, make carries from the tee paramount. Golfers wanting to score well should be consistently straight with their shots, failing to do so on this course will return a terrible-looking scorecard, especially if the prevailing south-westerly wind is blowing. Despite the challenges, those who are looking to purely enjoy their experience will have a fantastic day simply enjoying the resort-style feel of the course.
Practice Area
The short-game practice area is a purpose-built facility near the first tee. With practice nets, a large putting green and a fantastic Chipping area with ample cart parking, it’s the perfect spot to brush up on your short game before heading out. There is not enough space in the complex for a full driving range, but the short game area should be enough as itтАЩs a links golf course where chipping comes into use more than long woods.
Clubhouse
The Eagle Ridge Caf├й is adjacent to the golf shop and has everything you need before, during or after your game. From great coffee and muffins to toasted sandwiches. They do not allow Bring-Your-Own alcohol, but they do offer a vast selection of beers and wines including local brews. They also have locker and shower facilities in the bathroom areas to freshen up after your game and store your valuables throughout.
Golf Shop
The golf shop offers everything you need to put you in the field for the day, from accessories, footwear, golf wear, waterproofs and golf equipment. They stock all the major sport brands including Srixon, Titleist, Under Armour, Island Green, Nike and Footyjoy.
