Just 15-minutes from Dubai’s city centre, the Dubai Hills Golf Club provides 18-holes of championship golf with a signature view of the Dubai skyline. Owned by the same company that owns the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Hills Golf Course was designed by Gary Johnston of European Golf Design, opening in 2018. The golf course is set within the Mohammad Bin Rashid City quarter of Dubai, with low-rise buildings in the near, and Dubai’s monolithic skyline framing many holes. Nearby courses include Arabian Ranches and Dubai Creek Golf Club. The golf course is managed by Troon so you can expect immaculate conditions, friendly staff and a fantastic experience when you visit.
Carved out of the desert, the relatively new Dubai Hills golf course is situated on what was originally a camel stable on a largely flat property. Much of the course was laid on lower ground, while filling was required for the residential properties bordering the course. The result is a number of valleys that the course plays within; various holes meander around the countryside with noticeable changes of gradation in elevation the whole way round. Large fairways contoured fairways combine with lakes and elevation changes to really test those playing from the back tees. There are multiple tees to play from which makes Dubai Hills very accessible for golfers of all abilities.
Strategic bunkering, manmade lakes and undulating greens makes it a challenge to score well on the Dubai Hills golf course, though it is difficult to lose your ball with wide fairways and large greens. The golf course has a packed tournament calendar which is a testament to the design team. The greens are fast and firm with sweeping runoff areas, so beware your approach shots. Overall, the golf experience at Dubai Hills is welcoming to every kind of golfer with enough challenges to test the skilled golfers, and plenty of scenery to amaze the newer players.
Practice Facilities
There is a golf academy at Dubai Hills Golf Club that offers junior coaching, ladies coaching and men’s coaching. Practice facilities consist of a driving range (woods are not permitted), indoor and outdoor swing studios, cages for woods and a chipping & putting area. The golf academy at Dubai Hills is fantastic. It features two teaching studios that open onto the range.
Clubhouse
The brand-new Arabian themed clubhouse at Dubai Hills is a massive 45,000-square foot building that brings contemporary to the game of golf. Dine at The Duck Hook, a British-inspired bar complete with views over the 18th green and Burj Khalifa. There are big screens to watch your favourite sports after your round is complete. The Hillhouse Brasserie is an upmarket dining experience with a specialty for exuberance. Other features of the clubhouse is a members-only gym, large Pro Shop with fantastic golf necessities, lockers, sauna and steam room. There is a terrace for dining outside, making the Dubai Hills after-golf experience a must.
