Situated roughly 90 minutes from Hanoi’s city centre, Stone Valley Golf Club is an 18-hole golf resort that is currently in development stages. The first stage is an 18-hole course and clubhouse, which has been completed, whilst the second stage is another 18-hole course with a resort villa area, which is still in development. Designed by Brian Curley, the existing 18-hole course at Stone Valley is phenomenal, whilst the clubhouse and additional amenities are world-class. The complex is situated in an area into which four rivers join after meandering through valleys and mountainous areas. The result is a visually stunning complex with even better golf; Stone Valley should be on your Vietnam bucket list. The Stone Valley Golf Club features on our Luxury Vietnam Golf Tour along with nearby courses including the Skylake and Hilltop Valley courses.
The course at Stone Valley is separated into two distinct nines. The first features an abundance of lakes and a network of streams that often contrast with the rich green of meandering fairways and sharp-edged rocks that resemble lava fields. The back nine has some of the best holes in terms of aesthetics, and in golf, visual-appeal is everything. It includes a stunning lake with resemblance to Ha Long Bay, whilst the nearby mountains surrounding the complex has served as the location in which King Kong was filmed.
At Stone Valley Golf Club, the course really feels like a championship Florida resort course that is really outstanding. Large bunkers are also an important feature at Stone Valley; stark white sand contrasts with rich green fairways and surrounding mountains that have been overridden with vegetation. The bunkers resemble the size of Alister MacKenzie’s Royal Melbourne, or Robert Trent Jones-designed courses. A day out at Stone Valley Golf Club is well worth it; we have not heard of a bad golf experience in terms of quality or service.
Stone Valley is currently undergoing development to bring the 18-hole precinct to a 36-hole establishment, but much of the necessary golf-related facilities have already been completed. There is a full-length driving range onsite, as well as a short-game chipping area, as well as a putting green located next to the Clubhouse.
The Clubhouse overlooks the front nine of Stone Valley’s golf course, with a well-stocked pro shop with all the latest golf brands and Stone Valley’s own-branded merchandise. It also has a restaurant, men’s and women’s locker rooms, and excellent caddie services. Stone Valley is a name to remember, and to visit if you are near Hanoi on your golf trip.
