Situated in Scotland’s Highlands, the Golspie Golf Club occupies a narrow stretch of land between the rolling mountains and the North Sea, halfway between Brora Golf Club and World #3 Royal Dornoch Golf Club. The golf course was designed b legendary golf architect and player James Braid, while the Club was established in 1889. Golspie Golf Course is rated at #54 in Scotland’s Top 100 Courses by Golf World, and #74 in the Top 100 UK Golf Courses by National Golfer magazine. Golspie Golf Club is situated on the Dornoch Firth, offering 18 holes of golf in the romantic Scottish Highlands.

Golf Course Information

The 18-hole golf course is relatively short at just over 6,000-yards and 5,500-metres. The golf course has kept its original design which hasn’t yet been increased to modern golf course length, though it was sizeable in its day. Expect to find a blend of links, heath and parkland golf holes, while enjoying stunning views of the Dornoch Firth and rolling mountains behind. The welcome that golfers receive is often praised as one of the best receptions at a golf venue they have experienced; all characteristic of the famed Scottish Highland hospitality.

While the length is relatively short, Golspie Golf Course requires accurate shots and a deal of strategy because the holes vary in style throughout. Expect to find an honest golf course within a modest establishment that may just create your best round of golf in Scotland. Pine trees are a unique distinction at Golspie Golf Club. Visitors come for the beautiful sea views but leave with an overwhelming feeling of giddiness after playing Golspie. Overall, the combination of golf holes creates a fun highland experience that may be well needed after playing the tough Royal Dornoch golf course.

Venue Information

As with many traditional golf courses in the British Isles, practice facilities are limited. There is a practice putting green but no driving range because they are a relatively new addition to golf complexes. The Clubhouse at Golspie presents a well-stocked golf shop selling a good range of necessities and accessories, with amiable staff. The bar has a full license and is open for drinks and food for all members and visiting guests. Be sure to stop at the bar for a drink after your round and chat with the locals.
