More about The Presidents Cup
The event was originally played every two years on even years with The Ryder Cup on odd years, but the September 11 terrorist attacks delayed both tournaments to swap cycles. The biennial event revertedagain in 2020 due to the Covid-10 pandemic, with The Presidents Cup next scheduled for September 2022, and The Ryder Cup scheduled for September 2023.
Presidents Cup Format
The Format of play has altered throughout its history. It started a a three day tournament: the first Presidents Cup saw the morning of Day one with 5 fourballs, and the afternoon with 5 foursomes. Day 2 would see the same format, whilst the final day saw 12 singles matches. In 2000, the tournament was extended to four days. The most recent Presidents Cup in 2019 at Royal Melbourne saw Day one as 5 fourballs, Day two as 5 foursomes, Day three as 4 fourballs (morning) and 4 foursomes (aternoon). The final day four saw 12 singles matches. The total points accrued is 30; whilst a team needs 15.5 to win The Presidents Cup.
