Jack Nicklaus is one of the finest players ever to pick up a golf club. After retiring from the professional game in 2005 with 73 PGA wins (including 18 majors) under his belt, the Golden Bear became synonymous with the design and development of top-flight courses across the globe. A legend of the game, Golf Inc. voted Nicklaus the Most Powerful Person in Golf for four straight years between 2004 and 2007. His Signature course at Monte Rei Golf and Country Club is regularly ranked as the best and most exclusive course in Portugal, the home of European golf, and has been challenging players of all abilities and handicaps from across the world since 2007.

At the heart of each villa, comfortable open-plan living spaces make full use of the natural light, warmth and views. Vistas restaurant offers the complete gourmet experience – fresh locally-sourced ingredients create gastronomic delights, unique ambience, uncompromising levels of service and stunning views to the Atlantic Ocean. Executive Chef Rui Silvestre and his team work closely with local producers and fisherman to source the finest, freshest ingredients. From these, they create dishes beautiful in taste, texture and design, innovating with new techniques and ingredients from around the world; such is Vistas’ reputation, it was recently included within the Michelin Guide for Spain and Portugal, highlighted for its quality of food, high level of service and stunning setting.
The Grill
With an extensive menu on offer throughout the day, The Grill is the social hub of Monte Rei, where residents, guests and visitors can enjoy a leisurely lunch, afternoon tea or casual evening meal, inside the restaurant or on the terrace overlooking the North Course. Informal doesn’t have to mean unrefined. Taking high-quality ingredients, the kitchen turns them into magical dishes – every mouthful designed to inspire and savour. How to Get There
Monte Rei Golf & Country Club is conveniently located in the heart of The Algarve Region. It’s a 45-minute drive from Faro, the most accessible point in the south of Portugal. Because it’s situated in The Algarve, there is no shortage of other resorts and golf courses to visit and extend a stay, so it’s recommended that you hire a vehicle and stay for 2 weeks, exploring all that the wonderful region has to offer. If you’re travelling from Lisbon, Monte Rei is a 3-hour drive through the centre of Portugal. Alternatively, if you’re travelling from Seville in Spain, it’s less than a 2-hour drive west.
