One of Portugal’s most well-known golf destinations, the Algarve, houses one of the country’s most renowned golf complexes: Dom Pedro Golf. The Vilamoura region lies directly in the centre of the Algarve area, and Dom Pedro Golf’s Old Course opened in 1969. The course was designed by Frank Pennink, with a classic parkland layout that moulded to the natural topography and has stood the test of time. One of the most respected and well-known golf destinations on the Iberian Peninsula and Continental Europe, Dom Pedro Golf is a name to be revered in every golf circle. The other golf courses at Dom Pedro include the Laguna Course, Millennium Course, Victoria Course and Pinhal Course. We recommend staying at the Anantara or Lake Spa Resort during your visit to Portugal’s sunny Algarve region.

Golf Course Information

Each hole on the route of eighteen has its own individual character, making for a completely memorable round each time you play. Recent renovations managed by Hawtree & Sons has brought The Old Course up to a new level of excellence and enhancing the façade that made the course famous. Massive pine trees dominate the course and form the main challenge throughout the parkland route, though cunningly placed bunkers and sharp doglegs will make for an exciting game of golf.

Maintained to the highest order, the Old Course at Dom Pedro Golf is a world-class course with a modern detailed management system to minimise environmental impact. The first five holes are relatively straightforward, allowing players to get in a good rhythm for the remainder of your round. 6, 7 & 8, however, provide a real golf challenge with precision and pin-point accuracy wit every shot demanded from the outset. The second nine is where the real challenge is introduced with undulating terrain demanding strategy and a little bit of luck. Overall, the tranquillity one finds on the course, with the immaculate conditions from the first tee to the last green will have you remembering Dom Pedro’s Old Course for years to come.

Venue Information

A brand-new clubhouse adjacent to the Old Course houses “Restaurant The Old Course,” which gives golfers the option of an informal meal before or after play. An English-style restaurant serving Western cuisine, the surrounding scenery over the golf course are tranquil and highly sought-after. There is a fully-stocked Pro Shop with attentive staff, as well as changing facilities and a locker area within. The practice facilities include a putting green and driving range. The putting green is located next to the Clubhouse.
