The Victoria golf course at Dom Pedro Golf in Vilamoura, southern Portugal, is an Arnold Palmer classic. Featuring lots of water and bunkers heavily influenced by Florida’s great golf courses, Dom Pedro’s Victoria golf course has it’s own Algarve feel that includes pine trees, immaculate course conditions and a strictly ‘Vilamoura’ atmosphere; something that you will have to experience to understand. Host of the Portugal Masters since 2007, the Victoria course is remarkably challenging from the back tips, but multiple tee options allow amateurs of every calibre to enjoy the course. The other golf courses at Dom Pedro Resort are The Old, the Millennium, Laguna and Pinhal courses. Nearby resorts for your accommodation are the Lake Spa Resort, Dom Pedro, or Pestana Vila Sol.
Golf Course Information
Designed by the late Arnold Palmer and shaped much like Ireland’s Smurfit Course at The K Club Resort, Dom Pedro’s Victoria course features large, flat bunkers and lakes where fairways feed into the hazards with few barriers between grass, water and sand. Add the long distance of 7,275 yards / 6,651 metres and you have a championship golf course that has been host to the Portugal Masters since 2007. The climate of the Algarve, combined with the design of the Victoria course’s greens, makes for lightning-fast putting greens full of undulations.
In true Arnold Palmer style, the Victoria golf course feels like a Florida Resort course and that may or may not live up to your idea of a fun golf course but there is no denying the course offers plenty of risk/reward opportunities and plenty of water hazards to carry from the tee. The natural wetlands on which the course sits create lush conditions year-round, and immaculate course maintenance year-round offers superb golf breaks to domestic and international golfers looking for your ideal Portugal golf holiday.
Venue Information
There is a clubhouse at Victoria golf course at Dom Pedro Golf in Vilamoura, but the restaurants are not within, you will have to find another course or visit the accommodation at Dom Pedro to have a meal. There is a fully stocked pro shop, however, and knowledgeable staff who will help you with any purchases or questions you have. Practice facilities consist of a putting green and short-game pitching area, plus a driving range to practice your full swing.
