About

Jumeirah Golf Estates is located twenty minutes from Dubai’s centre in a purpose-built lifestyle facility. Featuring 36-holes of golf, over 1,800 residential buildings and a lifestyle centre to match, the Jumeirah golf precinct is the first of its kind in the Middle East. Home to two courses designed by Australian golfer Greg Norman, there is the Earth course and Fire Course. Considered the younger sibling, the Fire Course is grossly underestimated due to the Earth Course’ debuting on the championship stage when it opened. The Fire Course is less dramatic than the Earth, but no less difficult. Designed to blend seamlessly with its surroundings while upholding the traditional challenges of the game, the Fire Course brings a true but fair challenge to your golfing abilities. On and off the course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, expect to have your senses dazzled. Nearby golf courses include The Els Club at Dubai Sports City, Arabian Ranches and Montgomerie Address Resort.

Golf Course Information

As with the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estate, the Fire Course was designed by Australian Shark Greg Norman. The golf course opened in January 2010 to wide acclaim after the success of the Earth Course. Designed specifically to exist in harmony with its desert landscape, The Fire Course is a tough challenge to your golfing abilities. The native grasses display a golden glint in the sunlight. The sand has a red tinge in the bunkers which are akin to Aspen Lakes Golf Course in Oregon.

The course is framed by a wide variety of flora that reflects what the layout is all about: blending seamlessly with its surroundings. Greens stress the importance of positioning so think wisely before attacking the pin. Tee placements offer variety, with the addition of length, direction and elevation. Visually stunning, the Fire Course is more traditional in the golfing sense; more like a links course you would find in Great Britain, but with modern quirks like elevation changes and sweeping flat-bottomed bunkers that remind one of their desert surroundings. If visiting Jumeirah Golf Estates, ensure you play both the Earth and Fire Courses, they are not to be missed.
