Test your swing on one of Verdura Resort’s stunning golf courses, designed by acclaimed international firm, Kyle Phillips. Famed for courses like Kingsbarns Golf Links in Scotland, Phillips has crafted two 18-hole championship courses and a nine-hole par-3 course from the stunning coastal scenery at Verdura. The three links-style layouts have been built to the highest specifications, with the resort’s East Course – ranked as one of the finest in continental Europe, chosen as the host venue for the European Tour’s 2012 Sicilian Open as well as the Rocco Forte Open in 2017 and 2018. Providing the ideal complement is the beautiful West Course, also a par-72, which features one of the most memorable finishes anywhere in the world with the final four holes set alongside the Mediterranean.

Deluxe Rooms
The spacious Deluxe Rooms are flooded with natural light, thanks to the double glass doors that lead out onto a private balcony with stunning sea views. These generous Superior Deluxe Seafront Rooms marry the earthen tones of the Sicilian countryside with the glimmering splendour of the Mediterranean, as seen from the private terraces. Found in the Landscape Villas, the beach is just a short stroll from your elegant four-poster bed, and the combined living and sleeping space is stylishly outfitted with soft furnishings that evoke the warm colours of Sicilian maiolica tiles. Superior Deluxe Rooms
Each of these stylish Superior Deluxe Rooms is generous in size and luxurious in spirit. Found on the ground floors of the courtyard buildings, their private terraces decadently spill out onto the grass, just a short stroll from the lapping waves of the Mediterranean. Relax in comfort here, taking in the stunning view, or indulge in some pampering in your spacious, stone-finished bathroom, outfitted with decadent Ortigia products, heady with Sicilian botanicals. Junior Suites
The serene Junior Suites combine elegant style with contemporary comforts. The natural colour palette, replete with shades of stone and echoes of warm Sicilian maiolica tile in the soft furnishings, lends the space a relaxing feel, while the furniture and objet d’art feature local ceramic craftsmanship. For added decadence, Junior Suites open up onto private balconies with stunning views of the Mediterranean. In the light-flooded bathrooms, meanwhile, you’ll find deep bathtubs and a pampering range of Ortigia products. These suites have an additional 20m² on the regular sized rooms, bringing the size from 40m² to 60m².
Classic Suites
An elegant blend of indoor and outdoor living, Classic Suites offer exceptional comfort and style in spacious surrounds. The double terrace doors flood the generously-sized open-plan inner space with natural light, while Sicilian objets d’art, a curated collection of furniture and sumptuous soft furnishings in warm, russet tones echo the colours of the landscape and add personality. Order the catch of the day, brought ashore by local fishermen that day, and ask for it served grilled or ‘crudo’, just as they’ve enjoyed it for generations in surrounding Sicilian fishing villages—thinly sliced, anointed with local extra virgin olive oil, juice from citrus fruits grown nearby, and a pinch of rock salt. Peruse the menu, with its fresh salads and sensational pasta dishes, and watch the sky light up with colour as the sun sets over the Mediterranean.
Liolà
The menu reveals all manner of traditional trattoria-style dishes, from caponata made with locally-grown ingredients to crispy, yielding arancini and wood-fired pizza with tomatoes, breadcrumbs, pecorino cheese, salami and basil. Those looking for an authentic taste of Sicily will find it here.
Zagara
Named for the fragrant orange blossom that scents the estate, Zagara restaurant is a unique expression of place, with a menu that revels in the flavours and ingredients of the Mediterranean, from the local catch of the day, served with homegrown braised fennel and citrus, to “Spaghettoni” with shrimp from Sciacca, zucchini leaves, and lemon.
Granita
Warm and inviting, Granita Bar is open throughout the day for tapas-style Mediterranean dishes and regional specialties, alongside a range of expertly-mixed cocktails that are unique to Verdura. Try a “Sicilian Mojito”, made with fresh citrus picked on the property and squeezed straight into the glass, mixed with dark rum and plenty of local mint. Or sample one of the sensational martinis, made with the bar’s unique infused vermouths.
Torre Bar
The Torre bar is the perfect spot for a light golfing lunch or a refreshing beer after an afternoon on the fairways. Verdura Resort is situated on the south-west coast of Sicily. There are airports in Vittoria, Catania, Trapani and Palermo, but the main one is Palermo. The drive from Palermo airport is about 90-minutes through amazing Sicilian highlands, and it’s worth every minute. Alternatively, you could drive west from the airport and meander along the coastline, stopping in quaint villages before you make your way to the resort.
