The Ailsa Championship Course at Turnberry is situated on a rocky peninsula that defines the game of golf. With its illustrious history spanning over 100 years, Trump Turnberry has added a new chapter to its inspiring story with over £200m invested by new owners The Trump Organization to completely restore and revamp the resort, including the Championship Ailsa course. The Ailsa is one of the world’s most loved golf courses and has had the privilege of hosting the Open Championship four times, including the unforgettable 1977 Duel in the Sun. Since acquiring the resort in 2014, The Trump Organization and famed golf course architects Mackenzie & Ebert have completed a meticulous historic study and modern-day review of the Ailsa course, creating a true masterpiece.
A selection of inspiring changes has been implemented including the creation of five dramatic and stunning new holes plus a range of alterations covering virtually every corner of the course. Since these changes have been made, the Ailsa has been ranked by Golf Monthly as the UK & Ireland’s number one golf course. The Ailsa was also named ‘Revdevelopment of the Year’ by Golf Inc Magazine, stating it as “an iconic property that has been restored immaculately without losing the proud history created over hundreds of years.’

The Duel in the Sun restaurant commands exceptional views over the golf course and features a steak and lobster theme to its extensive menu. While a number of food favourites for golfers remain, including fish and chips, there is also a Josper Grill menu which uses a unique a Spanish cooking style adding a delicious charcoal flavour to meat or fish. The unrivalled golfing history of the resort is also acknowledged in two meeting rooms, the Champions Suite and the Tom Watson Boardroom, both of which feature iconic images of the illustrious winners of many major tournaments at Trump Turnberry over the years.
