Terre Blanche Golf Club is one of the world’s most prestigious destinations for golf lovers. Architect Dave Thomas has skilfully capitalised on the existing contours and natural features of this magnificent site. His trademark jagged-edge bunkers feature on the two 18-hole courses: Le Château and Le Riou. This true golfers’ paradise is set in stunning surroundings and brings together performance and love for the game. Terre Blanche was voted the Best Golf Course in France 2017 by 350,000 voters at LeadingCourses.com, Europe’s biggest golf course comparison site. And in the UK, the notable magazine Golf World (UK) gave Terre Blanche top ranking as the Best Golf Resort in Continental Europe (2018-2019).
Le Riou offers vertiginous views over the Provencal villages. This challenging 18-hole course is 6005-metre / 6567-yard long and features steep fairways and elaborate greens. Calling for a large variety of strokes, it requires a strong and experienced game strategy. Access to this course is limited to members of the Club and their guests, as well as clients of the hotel. It is also the venue for an Open of the Ladies European Tour Access Series, the “Terre Blanche Ladies Open”.
Dave Thomas was asked to design both golf courses at Terre Blanche, and the result could not have been better. The uncertainty that sometimes drags down golf complexes by having such different course architects and designs was left behind at Terre Blanche; Dave Thomas designed both Le Chateau and Le Riou golf courses to complement each other whilst maintaining individuality on both courses. That is the reason that players visiting the 5-star resort must play each course at least once.
Considerably shorter than its counterpart, Le Chateau, the Le Riou course has narrower fairways and harsher angles that force golfers to select golf clubs with intensive care. Both uphill and downhill doglegs create strife for players that find manufacturing draws and fades a challenge, for the trees on Le Riou are perilous. Set uphill of Le Chateau Course, Le Riou uses steep undulations to its advantage against players, with its fairways spilling seamlessly into bunkers. Both a challenge and an adventure, Le Riou is sure to excite any avid golfer.
Clubhouse: Les Caroubiers
Les Caroubiers looks out onto the Golf Club and is the place to take a refreshing break in the Clubhouse, perfect for golfers. Meet in this stylish, sporty environment for lunch, by the fireplace or on the terrace depending on the time of year and enjoy the panoramic view over the final hole at the Riou course.
Driving Range
Open 7 days a week, the driving range has 64 bays on two levels. Half are undercover and flood-lit on the ground floor and the other half are outside on the 1st floor. A grass driving range area is open from May to October. 2 outdoor putting greens, 1 indoor putting green, 2 approach greens and bunkers complete the list of short game facilities available.
Golf Academy
The Albatros Golf Performance Center is home to the Terre Blanche Golf Academy. The Golf Academy is open throughout the year and offers a wide range of courses relating to all aspects of the game. The coaching programme is designed to respond the needs of players of all ages and levels: beginners, experienced amateurs and tour professionals.
Biomecaswing Centre
This centre, the only one of its kind in Europe, is headed by Jean-Jacques Rivet, an osteopath and accomplished athlete, and combines the use of biomechanics and modern technology. This concept involves undertaking an analysis of your body shape, posture, mobility and the intensity of each movement to build a full understanding of your swing so that you can refine and optimise your game.
The Proshop
Located on the ground floor of the Clubhouse, the Proshop is the place to book your tee times and find out about competitions. This store is entirely dedicated to golf equipment so don’t forget to pay a visit! The Proshop stocks a wide range of apparel from top brands including Ralph Lauren, Bogner, Oscar Jacobson and Adidas: polo shirts, trousers, shoes, accessories and, of course, Terre Blanche branded balls and other products.
