The emphasis of the Waterside Course at Siam Country Club, Thailand, is placed strictly on environmental management, aesthetic beauty and challenging but friendly play. This differs a lot compared to its siblings the Plantation and Old course at Siam Country Club, but offers the Country Club another dimension to become friendlier to the average golfer and comes as a welcome respite to its two older siblings. The clubhouse has a contemporary design and comes with all the facilities expected of a top golf club whilst offering views of the surrounding valley.
Water is the most noticeable feature on the Waterside course, given its name. It is also the most noticeable change from the Plantation and Old courses at Siam Country Club; water frames the last three holes of the course and forms the biggest challenge to errant shot-makers. If you can stay in play and get the ball up-and-down consistently, the course will not be overbearing. Because its emphasis is primarily on its ongoing environmental impact and aesthetics, the waterside course is maintained to the highest order and rigorously landscaped, so runoff areas are tidy, water hazards frequent, and fairway roughs are championship-like.
Fairways on the Waterside course have Paspalum grass whilst greens have ultra-dwarf Bermuda grass. Depending on your skill level, there are four sets of tees that make the course as much of a challenge as you need, with the shortest tees at 5,000 yards and the longest at 7,400. Much more open than its siblings the Old and Plantation, the Waterside course is prone to breezes that will disrupt your game if you do not take it into account from the first tee. Overall it is a great golf course that will fit seamlessly in with your golf trip.
Featuring a contemporary clubhouse with 5-star facilities, the Waterside course clubhouse has a well-stocked Pro Shop with knowledgeable staff. It has wet-weather gear, golf balls, clubs, footwear and apparel. With the restaurant serving authentic Thai food, you will enjoy a bit of local cuisine after a pleasant round, with a cold beverage overlooking the surrounding valley. The clubhouse at Siam Waterside also has excellent locker rooms and changing facilities, so be sure to make the most of them. Practice facilities consist of a miniature 18-hole putting green, a putting green next to the first hole, and driving range.
