The Bandon Dunes Old Macdonald golf course is one of the Resort’s most open golf course with virtually no trees and coastal views. Invoking representations of Scotland and Ireland, the Old Macdonald course was designed by Tom Doak and Jim Urbina, and opened in 2010 to the public. The golf course is the Resort’s fourth edition, with the others consisting of Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes, The Sheep Ranch, Bandon Trails and Bandon Preserve golf courses.
The Old Macdonald Golf Course departs from the like-minded designs of Bandon and Pacific Dunes respectively; fairways are very forgiving, and greens are enormous. In fact, when playing the first hole and cresting the first ridge, you can see the entire expanse of the course with the Pacific Ocean as the blue divider between heaven and earth. Though large fairways and greens make for a simple round of golf on paper, Old Macdonald has a few tricks up its sleeves: the course begins inland, before moving over the dunes along the coast from the 3rd hole, and only returning inland on the last two holes.
The contours of the greens offer vicious reprimands for lax golf shots, and the lack of coverage provides maximum exposure to devilish winds. The feel of the course replicates the great Scottish Links Courses and encapsulates the soul of every surprised golfer who plays on Old MacDonald. In true links style, Old Macdonald has firm greens that require elegant bump-and-runs, with low fairway shots to minimise wind-influenced deviations.

The Punchbowl
The Punchbowl is a 100,000-square-foot putting course designed by Tom Doak, with Jim Urbina. No tee-times are required, all you need to do is show up and put your golf ball in the queue; it is open by 14.00 & closes at dusk, night use is prohibited. It s also complimentary for resort guests. It features 18 holesтАЩ lengths differ from day to day, some are short, and some are long. The area is a collection of natural hollows. Punchbowl is a longstanding design concept by golf architects. The 18th hole at Old Macdonald shares the same principles and is aptly named тАЬPunchbowl.тАЭ
