The Dunes Golf Course at BRG Da Nang is situated on the fledgling central coast of Vietnam amid 150 hectares of dune-scape similar to what the world’s first golf courses were carved from. Mother Nature certainly had a gigantic hand in the formation of a layout that evokes an experience often found in seaside courses in the British Isles and south-eastern Australia. But make no mistake: This is Vietnam. The BRG Da Nang golf complex lies in the heart of Vietnam’s golf coast. Since 2000, the up-and-coming destination has taken the golf world by storm. Nearby attractions include Ba Na Hills, Laguna Lang Co, Hoiana Shores and Montgomerie Links.

Golf Course Information

The Dunes Course is a 6,547-metre, 18-hole, links-style layout that was designed in the true spirit of the game: blown-out bunkers, firm and fast fairways that bleed gently into wild seaside vegetation, rugged waste areas, swales and hollows. It was designed by Australian golf legend and former world No. 1 Greg Norman. It lies in close proximity to two of Vietnam’s most historic destinations: UNESCO World Heritage sites Hoi An and Hue, and offers breathtaking views of the Marble Mountains, East Sea and Cham Islands. BRG Da Nang Golf Resort’s Dunes Course is the first true links-style course in Southeast Asia.

The course itself seems to have been manufactured around naturally occurring sand dunes so that it appears that a green road has been laid with patchy affect on the golden sand, with many shrubs and small trees for visual effect. Fairways are generous because the well-sculpted bunkers actually on the course are the real challenge when approaching fairways from the tee and greens from the fairways. Interestingly, there is no out-of-bounds on the course, so stray shots can be played directly where they lie (you may wish there was an out-of-bounds by the end of your round.) The fairways are also lined and well defined by long needle pines, so miss into the trees and it’s a forced punch off the sand and pine needles along a safe line to get back into play.

“The fact is, you’d be doing a very poor job to make a boring course out of a site like this.” – Greg Norman.

Venue Information

The 4,000 square meter clubhouse and 300-yard driving range echoes the course with first class standards and service. The driving range is covered so when warming up for your round or practicing, you will be protected from the elements. Food offerings are some of the best in Danang and taking in a Vietnam sunset on the rooftop lounge makes for an excellent way to reminisce about your round and plan your next Vietnam golf outing.
